The HOA cares big time what color your drapes are, but it takes them 8 months (at a minimum) to figure out if they want higher speed internet. At some point in my life, I'm going to join an HOA and vote against every single thing and introduce resolutions to disband during every meeting.

Re: Lenten Sacrifice - TV

hi nathan!
i heard you found your lovely piece of jewelry!
TV is overrated...it's suppose to be beautiful out this weekend so go outside for a jog. I think that if we plan our meals and maybe even do some chopping/prepping the night before, that might cut down on some of the meal prep time. Well figure it out AND we'll eat healthy, exercise, spend our money responsibly and have enough time for some lazy time.
LOVE YOU! Great post!

Re: Legal Marijuana Supply Chain

Theft would be a big problem for the growers. Nobody goes and steals oranges en masse, but I bet there would be lots of high school kids who'd go and steal a couple plants in the middle of the night.

It may be urban myth, but I thought the federal government grows some for their use. I wonder how its handled in that regard.

R-FID would be key, as I'm sure they want to track every bit of their product. Do beverage companies do the same thing? I wonder if they see higher theft rates than other companies.

Re: Life/Life Balance

I think being married actually helps me accomplish a lot of those goals. My lovely wife doesn't enable my daily cereal dinners, so when either of us wants to work out, the other person can make the meal. In addition, we sometimes get the pre-made meals, but then try to spice them up a little bit with some extra veggies or other added ingredients.

I still think that I need to increase my non leisure and exercise activities, but being boring has its advantages. Also the fact that I commute 27 feet to work helps me get my 8 hours per night.

Re: 2009 Blogging Resolutions

Great idea! Perhaps a goal in resolution form may be more motivating. I, too, enjoy writing a blog, but I, too, NEVER seem to have the time to do it. By the time I even think about it, the event is in the past and somewhat hazy and writing about it isn't as exciting. So I'm writing here for two reasons. You only have one blog so far this month, and that one blog doesn't count towards your quota. So my suggestions for your two required blog posts:
1. Write today about what's up in DC the day before the inauguration - what's it like over your way relative to congestion, traffic, happenings, etc.
2. Write a blog about the economic "crisis" and how it's reflected within your social network. Are your friends, neighbors, or their families talking about it much, saving more, having financial difficulties, what?
2A. Alternative to #2: Write about cat throw up - there seems to be much fascination online with cat emesis. Tell us about the frequency and content of your cats #3. Would vomit be #3?... seems only right. Seriously, I hate the word vomit - it just sounds disgusting. Someday I'd like to write a blog about the foot long ribbon that Meeka (the kitten) swallowed, and then #2A will make sense.
3. Bonus idea! Write about Blago - at least Illinoisans will enjoy it, or wait, wait, maybe not! For years he has hacked off the IL House and Senate and now he's going to pay. He didn't play ball with them, went through the back door with lawyers to get around them, and now he's dead meat, as John Kass would say. There will be no mercy (except from his sister-in-law).
Also, that was a joke about setting your expectations low, wasn't it? Because your list is more than enough for one year!

Re: Signed up for a half marathon!

THIS IS THE BEST BLOG I'VE EVER SEEN.
